Description
I have always had a passion for caring for others and their well-being, which inspired me to gain my career in care. As a Support Assistant I worked with vulnerable adults, providing the highest standard of care in the service user’s own homes, while using a person cantered approach. Duties included assisting with personal care (showering, washing, drying, application of creams, dressing, undressing of clothes/nightwear) I assisted with moving and handling and transferring from bed and or wheelchair, with a hoist or any specialised equipment where necessary and as stated in care plan’s. I assisted with preparation of meals, prompting of medication, carrying out domestic duties and provided companionship and emotional support to service users throughout their day to day lives and with any activities and life goals. I promoted independence where possible while working to care plan and caring for service users general well-being, along with their values and beliefs. I maintained and provided necessary records regarding the delivery of care, while adhering to confidentiality policies and procedures and I reported to the manager of any concerns or identified potential hazards, accidents or incidents. Throughout this employment I adhered to personal development policies and undertook training such as Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Fire safety, Food hygiene, Medication and First aid training courses. I also requested an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care which I gained successfully.
As a Social Care Officer my responsibilities were to attend to the personal needs of service users while aiming at creating a supportive homely atmosphere where service users can achieve maximum independence. Duties included physical care tasks to meet needs, such as talking with service users, helping with shopping, recreation and also personal care. I assisted in the assessment of service users, writing reports, contributing to reviews.
Yours faithfully,
Nicole.
